Overview
The Glossop Guild was formed in 2009 to promote liberal education in and around the town.
Glossop is a former mill town at the northern end of the Peak District National Park in the United Kingdom. The Guild is a non-profit organisation which endeavours to promote a wide range of courses, all of which we provide for the interests and enlightenment of participants. The Guild aims to select tutors on the basis of their ability to present lively and challenging courses, as well as for their expertise and experience. Members and participants are encouraged to contribute their own views and engage in informative discussion. All courses are open to both members and non-members.
Spring Programme 2026 - NOW taking bookings
Helen and Simon Bulmer have been busy arranging a very interesting and stimulating series of courses for the Spring term. The film day this term will be "Lord of the Flies" a controversial story of British school boys stranded on a desert island. The ever popular Frank Vigon returns to tell us about the "Dutch Masters" and Professor Andrew Russell will present his thoughts on the rise of the Reform party. We welcome a new tutor this term, Gena Gregory who will introduce us to "Album Art". These are but a few of the interesting courses this term. Once again we are offering both a venue based programme in Glossop for those who wish to attend in person and a Zoom based programme for people who prefer to attend in the comfort of their own homes.

As a small non profit organisation Glossop Guild are exempt from registration with the ICO for data protection act purposes. Nevertheless any personal details you give us directly, or via our course booking process, will only be used for Glossop Guild purposes, and maintained in accord with General Data Protection regulation principles.

To book a course on the courses page just select "Buy Lectures", this takes you to the "secure payments" page, then select "check out" (not "checkout with PayPal); then on the next page select "pay by debit or credit card" which is the option towards the bottom of the page. Fill in your details and follow the prompts. When the transaction is completed you will be given a transaction number which serves as your receipt - no further receipt for the course is required.
